Brannon Howse: May 21
Focus on the Family has no problem with a nominee to the U.S. Supreme Court being a homosexual? To confirm the accuracy and validity of comments made by Bruce Hausknecht, a spokesperson for Focus on the Family, Brannon Howse called and spoke with Bruce Hausknecht and Bruce confirmed that his quotes in an article on the Plum Line website were accurate. Brannon asked him three times if they were accurate quotes and each time Bruce affirmed that they were. In the article Mr. Hausknecht is quoted as saying, “We agree with Senator Sessions…The issue is not their sexual orientation. It’s whether they are a good judge or not.” Hausknecht said their sexual orientation “should never come up…It’s not even pertinent to the equation.” Hausknecht continued, “Our concern at the Supreme Court is judicial philosophy…Sexual orientation only becomes an issue if it effects their judging.” While we commend FOTF for many of the wonderful things they have done, these statements by a spokesman are very troubling. Brannon waited for a few days to cover this story in hopes that the statement would be retracted but it was not retracted but confirmed. What did our Founding Fathers and the leading legal scholar for the Founders have to say about the issue of homosexuality? Would our founders want a heterosexual on the high court that was a serial adulterer? Why did George Washington refuse to allow homosexuals to serve in the U.S. military and what did he do when a homosexual was discovered among the ranks? President Bill Clinton’s defenders said during his controversy that personal and private behavior has nothing to do with public service. During the Clinton controversy, FOTF aired a sermon by Dr. Adrian Rogers on the qualifications of a leader. How then can FOTF now say, through a spokesman, that sexual orientation is “not even pertinent to the equation”? How can a judge who lacks morals, integrity and self-control have any hope of being a “good judge”? Judges do not separate their personal worldview and values from their judicial decisions and we have a long track record of unconstitutional decisions based on their worldview, personal opinion and bias to prove this. John Adams who was Vice-president and then President said, “Have you ever found in history, one single example of a Nation thoroughly corrupted that was afterwards restored to virtue?...And without virtue, there can be no political liberty.” Many believe the comments by the FOTF spokesman and Senator Jeff Sessions, reveals why Republicans and pro-family groups are losing credibility, donors and influence among Bible-minded Christians. In1856, the first platform of the Republican Party included, “Calling upon Congress to prohibit in the Territories those twin relics of barbarism—Polygamy and Slavery.” If the founders of the party were that opposed to polygamy, which includes a natural act, what would they say about homosexuality which, according to the Bible, is an unnatural act? The Republican Party has left its foundation and purpose and has become a force of harm to America. Political and pro-family leaders have compromised for the sake of pragmatism. There is no hope of reclaiming America if we cannot reclaim the church. We cannot reclaim the country if Christian leaders and organizations do not think Biblically and Constitutionally. Francis Schaeffer predicted that political correctness would eventually be accepted by “Christians” and it would be the beginning of the end for America. Brannon discusses this issue and takes calls from across the country.

FOTF OK with U.S. Supreme Court homosexual justice
Posted On: 05/23/09 07:09:08 AM Age 53, AL
We accept everything but that does not mean we tolerate everything. Do we tolerate drunkards, drug addicts, taking my car, money (theft), beating up my neighbor? We tolerate abortion, but science now proves abortion is the shedding of innocent blood. We tolerate homosexuality, but is sodomy a sin or not?

I am in shock that first Dr. Dobson would condone a homosexual nominee and second that people who called in to your show would say it was OK. Obviously it was those same "Christians" who elected Barack Obama. Thank you for saying it the way it is. May God Bless you and your program. Tim May 21, 2009

"Gay is the new black"

This is now a very popular saying. Obviously Obama is the leader of it. Isn't it strange that just after a supreme court judge steps down Obama appoints a new judge who is a homosexual. Obama sees himself as a new Abraham Lincoln here to liberate the homosexual community. He has in mind the things of man not the things of God. May Yahweh be with us all. I would pray that God would change Obama's heart on this matter. However, I don't think Obama will.

fatigue at the state of affairs

I am gratified that your program continues to support the Biblical view of life. While my main home is in Mukilteo I work 180 miles away at the Quileute Indian Reservation. Today I am feeling very tired. As a counselor it is emotional anyway. As a Christian who counsels I am standing more and more on the edge as there are certain places I will not go. I am the only counselor in the village. Yet the need is great here and I know this is where God wants me right now. Please keep me in prayer. For the rest of us Christians here may of these issues are not story book. We face fellow Christians who think Twilight is God's gift to the town in Forks and here in La Push. We have some of our churches, including our main one that provides for the pastor here in La Push, promoting the Shack as akin to Pilgrim's Progress. This just the tip of the ice berg. Please keep us in prayer.

FOTF OK with U.S. Supreme Court homosexual justice

Brannon, I was as blown away as you were when I heard your program about what Bruce Hausknecht from FOTF said regarding sexual orientation. At some point their homosexuality will effect their judging. As homosexuality is becoming more accepted in our society, issues/cases regarding homosexuality will become increasingly more prevalent in the courts and require judgments about its acceptance in our lives. I believe we as a nation are sticking our heads in the sand if we think that having a homosexual on the court is not going to promote homosexuality in our country. This is absurd. I have been a long time supporter of FOTF and I will be contacting them about this. If they persist in this I will not be able to continue to support them. I just hope they will see the light and reverse their position.

Focus on the Family comment

Brannon, Why not tell Focus to let a practicing / open homosexual to be in a leadership role within their organization? Would they allow it? If so, this would send-up the "red flag" to all those who follow and support their organization. If not, it would prove their hypocrisy. Right? One way or the other, it would prove your point. It's the "wishy - washy" "luke warm" christian organizations the lead the most people away from truth, not the open opposer of truth.
