My Husband and I have left the institution of the Church (the building, the corporation, and secularism) We struggled to consider if we were being obedient "...the assembling of yourselves together." We struggled with the question; are we to be witnesses of truth? This questioning of the leaders was a real eye opener. When asked and seeing if all cards would be on the table, we found out that when we referenced the Bible, They either did not know Scripture or twisted it so much they assumed we would be fools to believe the spin. Then came some powerful revealing (test the spirits) and their real self showed bitterness and anger towards those seeking and loving the truth of Scripture and for those truly Seeking God alone. But know this, we have found that the journey strengthened us to have a deeper commitment. We remember back to the day (individually) that we were saved. At that time we didn't have a Church we belonged to either. Being saved without a Church, we spent our time playing and singing together (just the two of us) music of praise. Talking about and discussing the Bible. God will always have someone He purposes to cross our path to share the Gospel and Truth with. And I know God is coming back for His Church, which are individuals who truly believe who Jesus is and love Him, and not for a building. Click here to reply to this post

My husband and I also have left "Corporate Christianity," in all its forms and as you shared, we too share the Word, prayer and great and deep discussions and feel more the children of God each day than ever before. However, we also are sometimes ever so lonesome for the fellowship and wonder, along with our Lord, "But when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?" Click here to reply to this post

I've been saying this very thing since I was 19. Back then I called it "secular christianity". Over the past 30 years I have received confirmation over and over from the writings of Schaeffer, J. Gresham Machen and now Pastor Tim Brooks. Thank you for a great message. Mark Click here to reply to this post
Christians leaving the institutional church

We are included in this number. We've left the "institutional church" because there is no longer any deepening or seeking Christ and Him only. We are tired of attending a "social club" that no longer deals with sin within her walls, no longer deepens her flock in the faith and no longer widening her ministery beyond her 4 walls. Too much time is spent in politics, programs and pew warmers. We are done with that and no longer find that worth spending any more time trying to figure out. We now daily spend an hour or two together as a couple in the Word and have grown so much in this past year just asking the Holy Spirit to teach us His truth. We would LOVE to be assembleing together with other believers but are tired of the "social club" mentality. We LOVE the Lord with our whole hearts but will no longer waste our time with the current status. Click here to reply to this post
